Blog EntryTHE KITE RUNNER MOVIE THIS FALL!Sep 2, '07 11:58 PM
for everyone

OMG OMG!!!!

Just by watching the trailer I feel the intensity of emotions rushing through my blood vessels to the heart, brain, --my whole system! hahahahahaha!

To those who have read THE KITE RUNNER by KHALED HOSSEINI, you understand what I feel!

Looking back, I remember picking the book up at CostCo never having the slightest inkling that it was going to be one of the best books in the history of my being a reader! At 20, I started exploring new things like a thirsty, lost soul out in the desert! I reckoned that I was in thirst for learning.  Reading was all new to me! Of course, I read school books, SHELDON books, Tagalog Pocketbooks (haha) back then, but reading without putting your whole being into what you're reading is different! I read as if I didn't care to imagine things beyond what's written. I didn't realize later down the line that it's going to be the one thing I never would want to give up on! **I'll give up  boys, but not my books.  (ha ha ha)

I think the first book that influenced me to read more was "Memoirs of A Geisha" by Arthur Golden which was also made into a movie a while ago. Then later I found myself transported to the 15th Century England with the stories of the Kings and Queens in: The Other Boleyn Girl; The Queen's Fool; and The Virgin's Lover, all by Philippa Gregory. I've read the Girl With the Pearl Earring and learned much of the artist Vermeer.  I also had the chance to travel to almost all of Europe (England, Germany, France, Spain, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey, and learn a good deal of History and love in The Historian which is a very  special  book of mine  by the author Elizabeth Kostova, which will later be in a movie, too!  If my memory serves me best, I think in 3 years time I've already read more or less 50 of what I could get my hands on including books in my English classes (which surprisingly held my interest, also!)

So now, before I could overflow my brain with too much excitement hormone, I would like to share a little something about what we're all about to see this Fall, a movie that will inspire each and everyone of us to love like we've never experienced love before. No, not that love between a man and woman-- haha thank God. But the love between friends that is too honest, deep, patient, and very heart-wrenching. What makes it more different is how, where, and when that love is being expressed- in the way, time, and place you can never imagine! It happened in Afghanistan, where living hell is still in existence.

If you haven't read the book, I truly recommend reading it first before watching the movie because criticizing a movie such as The Kite Runner is not... nice. If you're going to watch it just because you're bored and you need to get away, well I know it will take you far far away! So yeah.. read the book, it won't hurt you, but will only give you the best idea of what unconditional love is.

A Thousand Splendid Suns is Mr.Khaled Hosseini's second book. It's Afghanistan again, but in a very different twist! I loved it, too!  Thanx for reading.
